Pain Therapy (TENS)

 

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a highly effective treatment for pain. It is used worldwide and recommended by sports coaches, physiotherapy departments, pain clinics, doctors and other medical practitioners. Pain is relieved by sending small electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the skin to underlying nerve fibers. There are three TENS therapeutic methods:

• Conventional TENS (C-TENS): high stimulation frequency with low intensity. While pain relief is almost immediate, it generally dissipates as soon as the TENS is turned off
• Acupuncture TENS (AL-TENS): low frequency and high intensity, close to the person's limit of tolerance. Many people find this method uncomfortable
• Burst TENS: high frequency burst impulses at low-intensity
