This is a unique pharmacy counting tray design that can
be used by either
right or left handed pharmacists or technicians. The tray has two pouring
spouts and the holding cylinder has a removable round chip that can be placed
in either end of the cylinder to allow the tray to be reversed for right or
left handed use. The center of the tray, or counting area, is angled
downward from all edges by 7 degrees. This design allows easy counting and
pouring due to its' channeling effect. The pills on the tray are channeled
toward the spout that is being used when pouring back into the stock bottle.
The angles also keep tablets and capsules from falling off the edges of the
tray because the high back-side has been eliminated to allow the tray to be
reversible. The cylinder and its cover are attached with a "living
hinge"
rather than the conventional hinge. There are two advantages to this design,
one being durability. This hinge will not break, unlike two-part hinges that
eventually wear and come apart or break if dropped. This design also keeps
pills from falling between the cylinder and its' cover or becoming stuck in
between them.
